Buyer's guilt...

Think it's still guilt, rather than remorse, but nevertheless distracting. As far as i can see, I can deal with this in one of two ways:

-- withdraw case and split, drinking celebratory bottle at first suitable occasion

-- leave in bond on the comforting (but probably faux) promise that i could always sell on...

tricky, even without the added worry of justifying the dent in a joint account!

Niepoort '94, on impulse, as it was my first 12-bottle case and had really been saving for an F85 or G85/80.

But i bought at what seemed an acceptable price, stored at BBR since bottling, and relative scarcity combined with the fact that out of the various Niepoorts i have tried there has been only one that failed to impress (LBV'04) caused me to pull the trigger.

Why not just let the other half make the next dent in the joint account?

Point out that this is an investment as wine is going up in value and that you bought twice what you need.

Withdraw the case from bond now, thus saving 2½% on the rate of VAT applied compared to withdrawing the bottles after 1 January. (This is a bargain, explain to the better half.)

Open an account with Seckfords and deposit 6 of the bottles with them for long term storage and eventual sale. Deposit the remaining 6 for short term sotrage until 2015 when you can start to drink them.

And everyone is happy!
