1970 Warre

Post by winesecretary »

This bottle top shoulder, albeit the cork was still in very fine form. so the below may be a decade premature, but…

… a lovely light garnet, with violets rising to the nose on decanting, popped and decanted and poured…

… and immediately in perfection, the cheese pushed to one side while I consumed three glasses of this splendid and luscious liquid…

… the following night, still very good, but lighter and with the cherry jujube more marked, and markedly drier on the finish.

This port has been a steadfast friend of mine for a third of a century; I am sure that well stored bottles will be good for twenty years more; but I am now aware of the possibility that I might be ageing slightly slower than it is.
