1970 Fonseca

Post by jdaw1 »

A zombie / in-law invasion needed to be escaped by one of us, and another proposed that the theme be ‘Vintage Port that you would like to drink if you had not Vintage Port for 7 months’. At the Boot & Flogger, on Monday 29th December 2025.

Fonseca 1970, decanted 4 hours. A wonderful dark red colour, 80% opaque. Superb nose of spiced bramble fruit which flows beautifully onto the palate, which is dominated by the delightful redcurrant fruit. Such a lovely Port, delicious drinking. 94/100.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: DR Very Old White, Graham Stone Terraces 2011, Quevedo Branco 1986 b.2026
