1948 Taylor

Post by jdaw1 »

Ben P. arranged a Bring a Bottle event, sighted, at the Boot & Flogger. And what an evening it was.

T48, non-Raby, from a bottle that had an imperfection which I was told but have forgotten. Served blind. Red-orange, 50% opaque. Slight dirt on nose. Palate sweet, dry grip, slightly oleaginousness. Others liked more. Mis-guessed (playing the man!) as D24.

Rich full wine with decent fruit but clearly not of recent vintage. Full of life.

Guessed to be Fonseca 1945.

Why I didn't get it as Taylor 1948, given that this was the third time I had drunk it in a week, I do not know.
