NV Quinta do Barao No1

NV Quinta do Barão No.1, Carcavelos. Made in the 1920-30s. Number 1 is the driest style of the wine from Quinta do Barão, a quinta which ceased production in the late 1980s. Dark orange colour, 30% opaque. Râncio nose. A little sweeter on the palate than the 1906 d’Algoa. Generous bitterness, medium dry, full of bruised apple and quince. Big quince finish. Lovely medium-dry style. Attractive wine, but not liked by either Richard or Sarah. 91/100. Tasted at a Carcavelos event in Lisbon on 29-Feb-2024.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
