Phil's post in the 31st March tasting thread made me visit the VP site run by my Swedish brethren. There I found a recent review of 25 VPs from 1980 which was interesting to read. This vintage is fascinating in the way it completely flies below the radar, perhaps with the exception of Dow, but yet some really good VPs appear to have been made. My own experience so far is limited to Dow, GC, Graham and Warre but these have all been pretty impressive with GC and W being my two favourites.
For those still in purchasing mode, this vintage deserves a serious look.

Yes, I've noticed that. They used to be everywhere and very reasonable but they seem to be getting less ubiquitous and a touch dearer. But I think that all the eighties vintages are good value, compared to other decades, if you are selective in what you buy.Andy Velebil wrote:And very difficult to find now days for some reason.
