Big Bottle Bonanza

Post by Chris Doty »

Visiting Porto-Gia, you would be forgiven for thinking that these chaps invented large format bottlings.

Arrive at the Information Center at the airport...two illustrative (pity) Imperials of 2003 Noval.

Arrive at my room at the Yeatman, Imperial of 2007 Donna Maria on my desk (not complimentary)

Arrive at the Taylor lodge, numerous Taylor Imperial Lamps decorate the bar

Arrive at...

Arrive at...

I note that in no place was there any hat-tip/nod to Jdaw for his efforts. I see a letter writing campaign in my future....

anyway, so much to tell you, but not here/now.

warm regards from the Yeatman

Here's an interesting thing: I seem to remember from the time I last stayed in the Yeatman that all the rooms are decorated with imperials from a wine or port producer. What I would like to know is whether these predate the law heretofore referred to as JDAW/0001 (which obviously only affects ports)? My investigation seemed to show that the imperial was indeed full (of what, I don't know). I forget which producer provided the theme to our room.

IIRC, each room in the Yeatman has a theme of a producer, which pays for the privilege.

And the Yeatman’s website says that it opened in August 2010, so the decoration post-dates the law change.

JDAW and Mr. Doty get seriously Lunched together.
Shortly thereafter Mr. Doty attempts to purchase significant quantities of large format bottles of port.
Causation, correlation or coincidence?

Just Doty being Doty.

I am sure JDAW can be accused of many things, but he cannot be held responsible for Doty being Doty.

Perhaps of paint. Were there remnants of a balloon inside the neck?
