I came across a company called ExPort yesterday. They act as the exclusive export agents for 12 Port and Wine producers in the Douro. Among the 12 are 4 port producers. These are:
- Coimbra de Mattos (who use the Valriz port brand and are based near Galafura – Valriz have just released an 1858 colheita from family reserves priced at €1200 ex-cellars for a 50cl bottle). There is a tasting note for the Valriz 2008 LBV in the tasting note section.
- Amavel Costa, who produce only tawny ports (including 10, 20 and 30 year old)
- Adega Cooperativa de Sabrosa, who produce Fernao de Magalhaes 10 year old tawny, Loreto Tawny, Loreto White and a Douro Moscatel.
- Quinta das Aranhas based in Ervedosa do Douro near Sao Joao de Pesqueira, who produce a range of ports including 1999 and 2003 vintages (which are their only two vintages to date) – of which tasting notes are in the tasting note section of the forum.

Re: ExPort SA
They had a small stand in an obscure corner of the London Wine Fair last week. I noticed them as I was rushing from one place to another and made a particular effort to return and spend some time talking with them; few people were. It was well worth the effort (I tried three Ports I've not tried before AND overheard a very interesting conversation about Port being sold and exported in bulk...)djewesbury wrote:Interesting. Sadly I missed the opportunity which had been given the previous day to taste the 1858 Valriz family reserve colheita (EUR 1600 for a 50cl bottle).
