The question:

Perhaps it is the name for a new tool used for detecting forgeries of some kind?

Perhaps it has something to do with cricket? Daniel seems to be a big fan of this sport.

Nope. It is not equipment of this sort.

The thing is readily available in every household. Your artistic mind just turned it into something new that we normal people would not have thought of.
I hope this qualifies as a proper guess.

No. It is not a new word or a term I've invented. It's a real word, in existence for a long time, but inexplicably not in the dictionary.

The thing is most commonly described using a two-word name. Both words begin with a letter in the first half of the alphabet.

No. I fear this will not be a productive line of enquiry. Why not try and narrow down the class of thing?

I should have used a full-stop on the second one instead of a question mark - I was trying to ensure I was still actively guessing, rather then just asking questions.

You've told us that it is made (as opposed to naturally occurring in nature); Is it assembled?
Guess: Dustbin bag.

Excellently formulated, but I still think you're stretching the rules. I'll make an exception this time but don't make a habit of it!

To clarify:
Each person is allowed one guess at a time. That guess might be in the form of a question ("Is it a cockroach?"), or a statement ("It's a cockroach!")
Liberal interpretations of the rules (such that one question can be supplemented with one statement) are not provided for.
Guess wisely.
