Father's Day Port

Post by Mark D »

Father's Day is this Sunday.

What port are you going to give your Dad?

What port do you hope to receive, as Dad?

Me, being a father of two small and very active boys, I want peace and quiet. But will settle for a nice, chilled, Dow 82 Colheita.

BTW, my Dad lives in another country and I can't ship to him. I'll get him next time he stops by...

I was promised a car wash for my father's day treat - interior by one and exterior by the other. Needless to say, it has not happened.

And as for my port - I spent my Father's Day evening working through 4 samples of 2008 ports. Some stars, some enjoyable and one or two which leave me wondering if this is a final blend or a working blend.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Although it was never intended, a bottle and a half were consumed on Father's Day. The intention was to make a sweet relish to go with the roast beef for lunch. Opened a half of Croft LBV, used about a third for the sauce, drank the rest, felt it wasn't enough, so opened a Roeda '97.
