On a boring financial side, please remember to bring the necessary cash to the tasting if you still owe some (I currently have down Alex, Christopher and Andy and small sums from Chris and Derek) so I can transfer it over to those who I think should be receiving some (currently the RAF Club, Axel and Uncle Tom), without it becoming a horrible confused mess...

If any of this comes as a surprise please let me know by PM or email!

The number of glasses is being checked, but the RAF Club coped with the 35 bottle 1970 tasting so this should be possible.
The last request for glasses (made by me via Axel to the RAF Club was) 14 × 24 = 336 glasses, so am I right in thinking we need another 56?
Yes, but the decanting team will waste some so best to ask for 400
That would only give you 8 spare...How many are you planning on breaking?

I wasn't thinking of breakages. When I said "waste some" I meant "use some for quality assurance purposes" :nirvana:

Updated current draft of the placemats, now at 208 sheets and 1,284,218 bytes:
  • Don’t ask.
Aside: an average of 6175 bytes per page is quite tight.

Ask for 400 recently washed glasses. Or, better still. arrive early and supervise washing.

Please, whoever is printing the placemats (presumably today), don’t forget to set ‟No automatic page scaling”, or equivalently to set the scaling to 100%.

Sorry, I disagree on having the older ports after dinner. Palate fatigue is a certainty at this event and I would rather be tasting young wines when that happens than 50 year old gems that I may never taste again.
I have no horse in the race, but believe Derek's way is right on. I also prefer older ones first but rarely see it done that way, as often time people like to end with the great oldies. But, I think the tannins of young VPs affect how the old ones show, if done later on. With a meal in between it is not as much an issue, but I'd rather be sharpest for the oldies and make sure my notes were crisp, while the young ones are very likely to be had again another day.
I think I've been quite well persuaded by Roy and Derek's comments and would also tend towards having the older ones first.

I'm sure you guys will have a wonderful time, and I wish you all dry trousers and a happy tasting.

First time that I booked BA and now the cancelled my flight. That demands some serious re-booking and a bottle of Delaforce 1994 to ease the stress a bit.

Hi guys --

I will arrange for my admin to bring the 99 to the lobby of my office so that cookie can pick it up as scheduled on Monday morning.

As for the placemats, as I am in currently in NYC, I am afraid I am no longer able to print them and bring them to the tasting.

Sorry to have to miss out on this -- looks sensational

Whilst creating the tasting note threads and links I couldn't help feeling slightly sympathetic towards the Malvedos 1968:

The links: *Please note that the 2008 Cask Sample was donated to this tasting by the Symington family before the final blend was complete so this may not accurately represent what the 2008 Graham's or Graham's Malvedos will be, should either of these be approved and declared later in 2010.
