The Port Forum Xmas Tasting - Thursday 10th December 2026

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Tom has kindly offered to host us at The White Horse in Newport (Essex) on Thursday 10th December.

The usual theme of The Unknown Shipper and His Peculiar Friends will be adopted.

The usual procedure of the prior year attendees having first refusal will also be adopted with one exception — the last place from 2025 will be dropped to first reserve in order to create a space for an industry guest.

First refusal seats are offered to:
  1. THRA (confirmed)
  2. HTWH (confirmed)
  3. AHB (confirmed)
  4. MSC (confirmed)
  5. IDJ (confirmed)
  6. MPM (confirmed)
  7. WS1
  8. CPR (confirmed)
  9. PW (confirmed)
  10. Held for an industry guest
RESERVES
  • GEAG
  • NAC (confirmed)
  • JMK (confirmed)
  • CEM
  • JDF (confirmed)
  • MJRM (confirmed)
Please confirm your attendance or your wish to be on the reserves list no later than 31st October.

John, apologies, but because we can only fit 10 people around the table in Tom’s pub, the people who attended last year (and the people on last year’s waiting list) get first refusal.

But I can put you at the top of the list of people joining the waiting list for the first time.

Don’t book your travel just yet!

First post updated with the proper arrangements for the night. As usual, all bottles will be opened with tongs and we will use our best efforts and our fading sight to identify what we open and - in most, but not all, cases - drink.

And, just in case others are also considering options, I've booked myself into the Cross Keys Hotel in Saffron Walden.
