At 23:30 the night before, cellar-temperature Taylor 1955 single decanted into cellar-temperature decanter, and left in cellar. Colour slightly pale; smell glorious. Transport will be with ice packs.
T55 from bottle. Less evolved in appearance than the wine from magnum. Delightfully expressive on the nose, showing spiced rose hip. Superb. Lively fruit on the palate, wonderfully mature spiced red jelly. Aniseed on the aftertaste and long finish. There is a nice spice to the finish, although it is slightly too sweet. 88/100. (UK u/k).
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
