So long as the tasting is not on the 14th, I should be available.

Not sure which vintage(s) I have on hand, but I’ll check and let you know.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Your on the reserve list - clearly we need a bigger room and more port !!

Half term and the 14th are pretty much out of the plan ....

I should be able to fill a gap or two from the earlier vintages from the bottles I have at home.

Despite the best efforts of myself and Alex it comes to pass that our industry guest has had to change there plans ..... as such I have un-picked the attendee list to reflect the order before I set the date. Moved Ben from reserve to the main list to fill the empty space and added Bertie3000 to the reserve list.

Since we only have to accommodate ourselfs now date wise I've also removed the 15th as the date so we can try again for a better date.

Open to suggestions as to which date to do this on now .... how does the 6th or the 20th Feb strike people ?

Sometimes, when a tasting repeats a previously enjoyed theme, the design of the new placemats echoes some features of the previous. It is important to maintain traditions, as well as to grow new traditions.

So this is the moment to comment on what prior Quinta do Vesuvio placemat features are worth repeating.
  • 2019 Feb 13th (spirals; fonts at default of /TrebuchetMS-Bold and /Garamond);
  • 2016 Feb 24th (plain; /TrebuchetMS-Bold, /TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT and /TimesNewRomanPSMT);
  • 2010 Feb 23rd (horrendous; /Helvetica-Bold and /LucidaBright-Demi);
  • 2007 Dec 11th (not quite as horrendous as the 2010 effort; fonts at then default of /HelveticaNeue-Bold, /HelveticaNeue-CondensedBold, and /TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT).
It does seem that, in general, February is the month for Vesuvio verticals. That tradition, at least, is being upheld.

Just waiting for the bottles available from TC, HTHW & JDAW and then we can have the fun of working out what we should taste ….

At the moment I think we are only missing 01,04 & 08 between us all if the Vesuvio web site is correct ….

Might you guys happen to have 01,04 & 08 ? That would give us 28 years to choose from which I fear is a bit much ....

Considering the long list available to us what do people think we should try and do selection wise ??

There's a couple of ideas I'd like to suggest.

14 is a good number of bottles for a night with 14 people tasting. The obvious would be alternate years 1989/90-2019.

A second option might be to taste 14 of the "mature" vintages (ie. 21 or older): 1989-2004
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

I agree 28 would be too many for one session, but would suggest around 16-18 would not be excessive for 14.

How about 89 - 05 plus the 07 and 11? if we have the 07 and 11 it might be good to include the Capela versions as well to see how these are getting on as there are no recent notes on these.

Hello Everybody …..

Food time 😊

Can you all have a look here at the default food order pdf please

viewtopic.php?t=12466

and with regard to the 6th do one of the following …. If …

1/. Your on the default order and your happy with your default do nothing – that’s what will get ordered for you on the 6th

2/. Your on the default but you want something else on the night – please post here and tell me

3/. Your on the default but it’s wrong – please post here and tell me what you want to change it to

4/. Your NOT on the default order – please post here and tell me what you would like and I’ll make it your default as well

If you do nothing and are not on the default order pdf then nothing will be ordered for you which is not good.

Cheers

I’ll order from what I choose to believe is on the menu:
• Soup of the day;
• Steak, mushroom, Claret pie, green beans, + carrots, + skinny fries;
• Bramdean pudding.
