I’m hoping we have been able to move the deposit to the new date. I shall tentatively schedule the new date for Monday 28 Feb.

Given the possibility that the Churchill event may have to be on the 1st March due to limited availability on their side, would we want to move this or have the two on back to back evenings?

I'm relaxed about moving this one. I've not arranged a date with Oscar yet - we were waiting to see how Omicron developed.

Completely gutted to say that I shall no longer be able to attend with the new date. But, I shall drown my sorrows with the 2 bottles of Bride Valley Rose Bella 2018 I had put aside for this which are absolutely yummy and I recommend you all buy and try. I hope to give Oscar a glass of it another time.

I should be ok for the new date but I won’t know for certain until nearer the time as I am reliant on Mrs Read not being in Barcelona, which she has been warned might be required at some stage in April or May.

Assume yes - she understands the benefits to my mental well-being!

I’ve had some great trips to Guernsey. Hopefully more to come. I was on the last ever BA flight to leave Guernsey in about 2008 or something. Pilot got permission to do a low level fly past over the airport to say goodbye and we all got served fizz!

Confess to being thoroughly confused, mostly by the weird state of the attendee list in the opening post. I’m showing third on the reserves, but confirm available for 11 May. :o

When we had to cancel the original date in December I removed from the list of attendees the people who decided not to travel for the briefly proposed “bring a bottle” alternative.

When I get the time I’ll trawl back through the thread and recreate the original list to offer first option to the original attendees.

CANCELLED AGAIN: Wed 11 May 2022 - Quevedo Closure Experiment and Bring a Bottle to Share with Oscar

Are we still planning on going ahead with this without Oscar? I'm just trying to work out plans for the next couple of months and when I should aim to be in London!

<Edit> I have just realised I'll need to be in Bristol this week so I cannot make it either way.

I’ve had a quick chat with Oscar. We’re probably going to try to tie this in with the Christmas tasting 2022 like we had planned to do last year.

But nothing will progress until after 31st March!

Approaching a year on from the original planned date for this tasting, I have just updated the first post.

If enough people are interested in joining Oscar for dinner and a taste of the closure experiment wines on the 14th, I will progress plans.

I've updated the first post to include Nadia Quevedo at the tasting and to add the details of venue and timing. Note that the Boot & Flogger were full on the 14th so we've switched over to 67 Pall Mall (thank you Neil!).

The room at 67 Pall Mall is a little smaller than the Red Room at the B&F so we're limiting the number of people attending to 12. Any further requests to join will go on the waiting list.

I've also switched the list on the first post over to full names to make it easier for Oscar and Nadia to know who's attending.

I have just been reminded that the corkage charge at 67 Pall Mall is £30 per bottle.

The closure pack contains 4 bottles.

Consequently, please don't everyone bring an "interesting" bottle. Doing so would mean (a) too many bottles and (b) a large bill @ £30 per bottle corkage. Please would each odd-even pair (eg. Tony and Charles, Ben and Wolfgang) agree between them who will bring a single bottle and an appropriate way to share the cost of the bottle brought.

That gives 10 bottles to be consumed on the night between 12 people. Anyone still thirsty can buy from the bar or the extremely impressive wine list.

For those that haven't been to 67 Pall Mall before, there is a dress code but it's fairly relaxed. Chaps are expected to wear a collared shirt and jacket, but ties are not required.

Flip-flops, speedos, "wife-beater" vests, shell-suits, football shirts, etc are generally discouraged.

@Alex - could you possibly make our VIP guests aware?
