Port for sale by retailer
Re: Port for sale by retailer - Asda
Have had similar issues when attempting to order online from Asda. It appears that stock isn’t held centrally and you only find out what’s actually available once you confirm a delivery address.
Re: Port for sale by retailer
Tesco are currently (until 15/2/21) knocking out Graham’s 10YO Tawny for £15 per 75cl bottle (reduced from £20) - don’t know if this is available in-store or only online.
Re: Port for sale by retailer - Carvalhas 1917
Sent an offer this morning by Fine & Rare - Quinta das Carvalhas, 1917 Colheita.
20 bottles available at £1,325 per bottle in bond. So, a case of 12 delivered would be just over £19,100. Bargain.
If you want the full details let me know. I await a deluge of enquiries...

Re: Port for sale by retailer
My Asda has three less bottles of the Dow’s Crusted (but bottled 2013) and now has an empty shelf area instead. Plenty of Graham’s 2015 LBV at £14 (I think) and Cockburn 2015 LBV at £10.
Re: Port for sale by retailer
Have tried repeatedly to get the Cockburn LBV from Asda, but they never have it. Suspect your local Asda has the entire UK stock.

Re: Port for sale by retailer
I did manage to get 5 bottles from them about three weeks ago (I ordered 10). I have another 10 on order for Monday, let's see - fingers crossed !
Re: Port for sale by retailer
Nothing left in my Asda (I even asked the assistant to check out back). I suspect that Asda are going the way of M&S and dumbing down their Port range which is a little concerning; it's pretty noticeable the amount of shelf space given over to rum, gin and vodka compared to the fortifieds.
Re: Port for sale by retailer
And they couldn't even be bothered to label up the area.
Re: Port for sale by retailer
a little Asda trip today and got 3 Dow's Crusted and 5 Cockburn's LBV, all they had!
Re: Port for sale by retailer
Asda have the Graham’s LBV on at £9.00 but don’t worry about me as I can’t travel to NI....bolloc*s

Re: Port for sale by retailer
Surely you have potential customers who are planning their reopening in April. It must be essential for you to travel and visit them to be part of their plans?

Alex,
If they extend the offer to some of their other range I’m definitely making a break for freedom!

Re: Port for sale by retailer
I think that Asda have moved on to the 2009 for the Dow's Bomfim (atleast that is what they delivered to me).

You're probably right. I was assuming the illustration on the website was correct, but given we're talking about Asda...Jasper May wrote: ↑15:36 Thu 11 Mar 2021 I think that Asda have moved on to the 2009 for the Dow's Bomfim (atleast that is what they delivered to me).

I'm not convinced that they really understand that different years are all that important... At least those maintaining the website.nac wrote:You're probably right. The producers are as guilty as the supermarkets.I'm not convinced that they really understand that different years are all that important... At least those maintaining the website.
Portugal vineyards tell me vintages often change (especially for LBV) without any notification from the producers - they just run one year out and start shipping the next..

Re: Port for sale by retailer - Rivesaltes (not Port)
Not Port, but thought I'd flag this up as it's a 1961 (which I know some TPF members are interested in) and quite good value.
FRW have just sent me an offer for 1961 Rivesaltes Ambre Heritage Du Temps, Domaine Singla - £185 in bond for a case of 3 x 50cl bottles.
If anyone wants full details email or PM me your email address.

Re: Port for sale by retailer
I’ve just been getting some of my Port delivered from in bond and saw that Uncorked were selling Fonseca Quinta do Panascal 2004 at £129.42 for six, duty paid which seemed to me a pretty reasonable price so I bought some. They have 9 cases left.

Re: Port for sale by retailer
Bloody hell. Costs €90 in Garrafeira Nacional, and that's probably the cheapest one available here in Portugal (most other places are €100 or more). £45? For that price I'd buy two cases.akzy wrote: ↑16:21 Fri 30 Apr 2021 Graham 2000 at £45 inc VAT (free shipping over £100) at Bakers and Larners. https://www.bakersandlarners.co.uk/00-grahams-75cl

That's a great spot Zak, thanks for sharing. I've purchased a half case, it seemed rude not to.akzy wrote:Graham 2000 at £45 inc VAT (free shipping over £100) at Bakers and Larners. https://www.bakersandlarners.co.uk/00-grahams-75cl

Re: Port for sale by retailer
I don’t think there is a tasting attached, but there is a great chance to taste some Colheitas from different decades by the VWP team together with Palmer ports.
Palmer Decades Port Tasting Pack
Colheita (Single Harvest) Port from 1940 (white), 1950, 1962, 1970, 1982, 1990
6 x 60ml - £119.00

And if that is more than you would like there is an aged tawny pack offer with some bonus young colheitas instead at £49.95
