A6: A fruit driven nose. Silky, some spirit. Sweet entry. Maybe a little simple today along with some alcoholic power. Structure? Concentration? A decent bright acid cut to the fruity finish. A pleasant nearer term prospect perhaps.

Plum and chocolate on the nose. Very enjoyable deep, dark fruits. Complex with a lovely tannic structure. Very good.

Tasted sighted. Deep crimson, expressive nose, red fruit with a smokey edge a little vanilla on the palate. Good balance smooth and fruity. Perhaps an early drinker? 90.

Very fruit driven with reed cherry, boiled cherry sweets, confectionery and sweet spice. Finishes long and it is a good port, perhaps for earlier drinking as this is a lighter style, seems to lack certain depth of flavour. 16/20

Tasted blind. Opaque, but light red in colour. Light nose, showing little fruit or other scent. Light texture with a light-weight entry. The palate improves but this remains a lightly fruited wine with a big dose of dry tannin, but does possess a good, lasting finish of fragrant fruit. Elegant rather than powerful. 85-87/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
