1977 Cockburn

Post by flash_uk »

Tasting notes:

Note: on the evening, we opened what was expected to be a 1935 Cockburn and discovered it to be a 1950 Cockburn, hence two entries for 1950 Cockburn in the tasting notes.

A bottle released from the Cockburn cellar in 2007, prior to the late release by SFE. More red in colour than the recorked bottle, around 40% opaque. Showing a little fruit on the nose, fresh and attractive. The fruit flows nicely onto the palate with fresh flavours carrying generous amounts of raspberry and cranberry fruit. A lovely long finish of cranberry jelly, very long, very delicate and very lovely. 89/100.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: DR Very Old White, Graham Stone Terraces 2011, Quevedo Branco 1986 b.2026
