Kitchen gas burner is not up to the job of heating tongs IMO. Fireplace does it for sure.

I would go on the younger side of port or something that is still fruity. Not something you want to put much contemplation on what you're drinking. Some tannin would help too.

Opened a Niepoort 2020 LBV last night. Initial pop and pour weren't as good as the first bottle. Blueberry, anise, and glue flavors. I am hoping they'll whiff off. I wasn't planning on really getting into the bottle until Monday or Tuesday.

The cellar never gets to 70°F and the highest temperature happens around Oct. I keep it humidified most of the year as well. The summer doesn't need additional humidification.

I shop there several times a year. They give me a decent discount on wine. The tinned fish selection is equally impressive as their wine selection. There's a large room just for Bacalhau and the frozen seafood selection is crazy. Just down the street are a few great Portuguese restaurants to complet...

I've had success returning spoiled bottles if bought at retail from my local B&M's. I've never been declined, but I've only returned 3-4 bottles ever.

One time I had a bottle of corked Bordeaux I bought a case of and retailer took back the whole case.

I read the implication of the '45 Warre could've been to commemorate 80 years since the war or in recognition of his 45th presidency. I tend to think it would've been the former. What does pão de queijo look like? Is it literally bread made with cheese in it? Yes, it's a ball of bread with cheese and has tapioca flour mixed in. We are lucky locally living in a 30%+ Brazilian community. Nata's are made daily at many stores.

We usually go for pão de queijo's instead. Just as good with port.
