Excellent! I'll be arriving late afternoon on the 26th and have work calls I'll have to attend to on the 27th so how about drinks in the evening on the 27th or lunch on the 28th? Not sure if this belongs here. If not, please move it. I bought 6 bottles of a newly released (still unlabelled) 10 year old by a small producer called Mapa (the owner, Pedro Garcias, also writes a weekly article about wine in the Portuguese newspaper Público). This is a lot of festive drinking.
Yesterday I had a festive lunch and a festive dinner but I forgot do document what we drank. Most of us were producers so there were lots of soon-to-be-released wines, mostly unlabelled.

Re: Interesting articles re future of Port
I think the real problem here is that far too many people still think of Port as only a dessert wine, which means they don't need very much of it. That tends to cap demand, which suppresses prices of well-aged Port. This is true. What is also true is that people spend less time at the table, unfort...

I've yet to fully read the articles (they're open in my browser, waiting for a good time to do so), but I must say that Paul Symington and his family aren't exactly your typical "Douro farmers" that he mentions in the article. Their interests aren't necessarily the same as my interests.

The last (and only) TN for this wine was a cask sample from 2007, so I thought I'd crack one open to see what it's like at 20 years old. The cork broke in two using a regular corkscrew, but the bit that stayed in the bottle was easy to remove without crumbling. Still super dark. Maybe a slight brick...

Agreed. I use a single sheet of muslin (thank you, AHB), and it's always enough. A little cloudiness doesn't bother me, and it's better than a subpar flavour.
