1992 Cockburn Canais

Post by Constandia »

Raisins, prunes a little overripe nose. On the palate a little thin with coffee notes. I felt this showed a tawny character tonight. 06/04/2022

Paling red. Not very nice nose, varnish predominating. On the palate however a hint of fruity roundness. But then it gets hot and underwhelms on the finish.

Consumed 6/4/22.

Opened 12.00 the day before the tasting, decanted 06.30, drunk 18.50.

Gentle rose-red colour, mature appearance, 50% opaque. Baked nose, smelling as though it has been matured in the heat at Canais in the Douro Superior. Very light bodied, the fruit a little dirty and baked. Very light compared to my expectations of a Vintage Port. Inoffensive, but not VP quality. 82/100. Tasted 06-Apr-22.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

No note taken other than "not great".
