Graham's Malvedos 1968
Graham's Malvedos 1968
I have been given about 20 bottles of port and wine. All seen to be late sixties.
2x 1968 Graham's Malvedos
3x Graham's LBP finest reserve
3x Noval LB port
Are they drinkable and what would they be worth?
Any advise appreciated
Many Thanks,
Phil. Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk

Malvedos should be quite nice. The others should be drinkable though probably nothing to write home about.

The one thing about the 1968 is that this year, being it's 50th birthday, it will be worth a little more. All those people looking for a 50th birthday present. Next year it will be worth a little less. Don't get too excited though, half retail is the usual advice, and low retail at that. Look on wine searcher for an idea what that might be.

Noval LBs can be very nice, since they were made as a kind of little more filtered Crusted Ports. Bottling around the 80s I would assume.
Dont store these for too long.

Earlier I suspect - these ones have driven corks, the later ones had T stoppers (and were not as good IMO)Bottling around the 80s I would assume.

Agree with Tom. Oh and if you ever run across the old aged tawnies (10,20...) from Noval in the old bottles with the "lip". Skip them, time in bottle has not been kind to them.uncle tom wrote:Earlier I suspect - these ones have driven corks, the later ones had T stoppers (and were not as good IMO)Bottling around the 80s I would assume.

Re: Graham's Malvedos 1968
As suggested earlier in this thread- the Malvados 1968 is probably good and has a market value. I would say that it's value might be up to 80-100 GBP if you can find the right buyer. If you sell it at auction you should expect to get half of that value. The LBV's are much less valued as they are intended for immediate consumption. However, most LBV develops positively with age, especially if they have a driven cork. (not because of the cork though, but as the ones with driven cork are unfiltered and expected to have a longer life, thus the driven cork) If there is a T-stopper cork it could be good but there is a risk that is is not. The value is also quite low. If you drink port, you better drink them yourself, if not you might know one who does and in that case they would make an excellent present some time.

Re: Graham's Malvedos 1968
A couple of years too late I fear for value - the 50th birthday market and general scarcity of anything from '68 will be pushing any that come to auction into orbit - the only one on wine searcher is being offered at £300..the Malvados 1968 is probably good and has a market value
