I started a new video series about famous Port Wine Quintas in the Douro.

Episode #1 starts with a video about the stunning beauty in Douro Superior - Vale Meao.

I visited the Quinta a few times and spoke in last September with the sympathetic, renowned and innovative gentleman Vito Olazabal about his gorgeous life's work.

I just watched this, thank you for posting it. I have never tried any of these ports, I wonder if those that have would support the thought that they are very recognisable.

On a separate and very personal note the opening music seemed a glorious double whammy of awful and inappropriate.

Hey, watch what you say about the music in Christopher's videos. I love it.

Thank you Daniel, I apologise for my rudeness. Air guitar is wonderful.

Any thought on the stated uniqueness of the wines? I realise owners can be understandably very partial.

I have only tastes Q de VM once or twice, so am not really qualified to say. But I think AHB has a fondness for it, if I remember correctly. I think he rated their 2011 very highly.

I can hear an echo...echo...echo...

QdVM have produced consistently good wines and ports for a few years now. Roy and some others in the US whose palates I respect rated the 2007 very highly and I do think the 2011 was pretty darned good. In addition, their table wines are developing a bit of a cult following.

They are good wines / ports and the brand probably deserves a better reputation for its quality than it has today.
