Port in Birmingham

Does anyone know of a place where one could discover a decent glass of port in Birmingham??

Vintage is not easy, at least it wasn't up until 7 months ago. Loki wine shop might have a port going in their enomatics. A few of the restaurants have one/a few by the glass e.g. Purnells has Dow 1970, Taylors 1992 and Warres 1997 currently according to their list. Simpsons may have several as well but not list online. If you would like to browse bottles then Conolley's in the CBD has the best range.

Do you mean Hotel du Vin or Malmaison? I have stayed at both and both are very nice, but I think the former is the one with the respectable wine list.

Thanks for all the pointers. I ended up in the Hyatt as it was closest to where I was going the following morning. Had to make do with a Taylor 10YO...

The Hotel du Vin in Cambridge is on my list of places to try sometime; seems like somewhere a tasting might work well, too, since they have a specific tasting/dining room as well.

The Hotel du Vin in Birmingham - both or neither. I have fond memories of having drunk Nacional for the first time there. And of the very strange shape bedrooms. Or perhaps bedrooms which seemed a strange shape after having consumed several bottles of port.

Were multiple bottles drunk at the tasting on Saturday 31^st March 2007? Maybe it was a different tasting at the same location.

But did you really drink multiple bottles of Nacional that evening?

Yes. Three I think, plus three others, including a TSQ50.

I recall a Nacional '58 and - I think - a '62. I don't recall a third Nacional. I also recall that we bought three bottles of the TSQ 50 and opens the third bottle that night.

Should we begin plans for a 10th anniversary repeat of that event?
