interesting note
"lesser vintages, the juice from those same vines has contributed to the Over 40 Years Old Tawny. António Agrellos, chief winemaker, and Christian Seely, CEO of the AXA Millésimes-owned estate, recently announced that the range of Quinta do Noval Colheitas will be expanded to include a Colheita Nacional, from the same ungrafted vines. Years such as 1998 and 2002, never released or bottled as Vintage Port, may be the first new releases. "

Just not yet. Too soon, they're not old enough.

$2500/750ml
Given the source and the amount of time they'll be aging it before putting it on the market, I'm only half joking.

No, just guessing.
But c'mon... Nacional VP starts at what, $750/bottle? And they don't have to store that for 20+ years before selling it. A well-aged Nacional Colheita is going to cost mega bucks. IMHO, a 10-yr old isn't worth doing. 20 is the minimum required to meet the quality expectations that anything labeled "Nacional" is going to have to live up to. And realistically, it should probably be at least 30 years old before being bottled.

to quote "Years such as 1998 and 2002, never released or bottled as Vintage Port, may be the first new releases. "
i'd be hard pressed to pay 2500$ for a colheita from anybody from the 1998 or 2002 vintage

Now, sure. But in another 20-30 years?
You might have said the same thing about 1952 back in the mid-60s. But these days, 1952 is considered one of the top handful of Colheita years of the 20th century.
This
is the Nacional vineyard that we're talking about. It walks to the beat of its own drummer.
Also, never said that I'd pay that much. I won't buy Nacional VP on release, either. But it wouldn't surprise me a bit if that's what they ask when it's eventually released. Scion was $2500 after all, and the Krohn two-pack was $8000. And neither of those say "Nacional" on the label.

I wonder if that's the proposed release date written at the bottom of the slate - 12th August 2022?
