When I get home on Tuesday 19^th November 2013, some port will be wanted. My mother-in-law is with us, and my wife will be returning from a trip away that evening.

So at least ¾l will be wanted, to be comprised of one or some of: ¾l Warre LBV 1981; ¾l Warre LBV 1982; ¾l Warre LBV 1984; ¾l Warre LBV 1986; â…œl Warre Cavadinha 1987; â…œl Sandeman Vau 2000; â…œl Croft LBV 2004; â…œl Skeffington 2009.

Would there be merit in starting with the 86 LBV and holding the Cavadinha 87 in reserve?

Warre LBV 1981 is fully mature and can be successfully popped and poured. That seems like a very good reserve for a late night emergency.

The Warre Cavadinha 1987 would stand up to a longer decant, as will the Skeffington 2009 half. Open those early afternoon and then use the 1981 to demonstrate the ageing process to your mother in law. You can then mention that she hasn't aged in the decade you have known her.

Prefer not to be assigning myself afternoon tasks that day. And the ’09 could be pop-and-poured. So W81LBV as main juice, with ’09s in reserve?

I haven’t noticed her I had and have eyes only for her elder daughter.

I've just drunk a bottle of the Warre 1984 and it was pleasant, but a little light.

Declining, reaching its early tertiary stage. But still very enjoyable.
