AHB was in town, and asked for company at The Bung Hole at a small blind tasting. DRT was in town, without port, so JDAW brought one for each. Later in the evening, we were randomly joined by two port novices, so a 10Y Otima was bought for comparative purposes.

10Y Warre Otima, bottled 2012, pop-and-pour. Nose had orange marmalade, which I tried to change to ‟pink marmalade”. Maybe it was grapefruit marmalade. Taste had the same ambiguous marmalade, with heat, menthol, and lovely acidity.

Bottled 2012, served lightly chilled. Deep orange in colour; 20% opaque. Nutty on the nose, but rich - like almond paste. Hollow entry, little flavour. Slowly some sweetness comes through the mid-palate then light brown sugar and eventually some toasted coconut and lime juice acidity. Some faint tannins are still present, but very soft. Pleasant aftertaste, showing some fruit before a very long finish of lemon grass. My first encounter with Warre's Otima, but it hasn't convinced me to become a fan of 10 year old tawny ports. 84/100.
