Hi,

may I ask the question if there is a distinctive Croft da Roeda 1970 aside the VP Croft 1970?

Have picked up 6bts from Tom over the weekend which carry the da Roeda label (old one which also can be found on e.g. 1967) as well on the capsule it says Croft da Roeda 1970.

Am not sure since we know that most vintage ports from Croft are essentially da Roeda. Hope somebody can help and answer this question.

regards

Hi Derek,

thanks a lot, I think at one of the next offlines we should do a comparison; am curious now.

Was the "classic" blend in 1970 also SQVP?

I don't know. All I know is that when I asked Taylor Fladgate the question they said there were two ports produced from that year.

In recent times Croft have declared VP under the "Croft" brand even though what is in the bottle is entirely from Roeda. 2009 is an example of that. I am not sure how far back that goes but I would be very surprised if they (Croft) had released the same port under two brands from the same vintage.

I can remember having hear some stories that in the old days they used different labels and used the SQVP and normal labels not really consistently (likewise at Offley Boa Vista), so I would guess it is the same Port.
