I havn't tested this site, but it might be possible to scan a label and get the result

http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/

Now, I have a small related dilemma - an old friend called Sandy is about to turn 50. I don't have any Sand(e) -man 57's, but I do have a couple of Sandeman 55's - bottled in '57...

One is pristine, but with a decayed frail label that is well attached to the bottle, and in too poor a condition to scan, even if I freed it. The other is in a much poorer state, with a failing cork, and the obvious bottle to drink - but it has lost it's label.

Does anyone have a Sandeman '55 label they can scan for me?

Wouldn't it be nice to have enough time left on this earth to fully answer Jdaws question.

I the absence of such luxury, here is an example of a home-made label using the standard Stencil font found on most modern PC's.

I use this style where I cannot find a decent image of an original label to copy. I will soon post a Sandeman 1955 label here for Tom to use.

I have an empty bottle of Sandeman 1955 in my cellar, but that label is very much gone too. So, other than saying that it's a very fine glass of port, I can't be of much help...

Tom,

Not the best original image but this might do you. If you or anyone else can take a high resolution scan or picture of a Sandeman VP label email it to me and I will re-do this.
