There's a new guy signed up, his name is Simon Lisle and there are a few clues to the fact that he may well be a Geordie. I'll let him confirm.

Welcome aboard Simon, enjoy the forum and have fun.

A very warm welcome Simon,

I was toying with the idea of breaking my silence at another place to make sure you knew this site existed..

Bienvenu , Simon .

It's Geordie, not Georgie..

- Someone who hails from the industrial heartland of England's north-east, which can boast the most distinctive local dialect in the land..

Runner-up in that contest are the Scousers (from Liverpool)

Those two communities have a big difference though..

When adversity falls on the Geordies, they fall back on their wits and find a solution - the Scousers on the other hand are natural victims, and delight in self pity..

The Scousers have better comedians though...

Alan , I don't care which side of the track you hail from , as long as the border patrol people don't interfere with your ability to make me laugh out loud !!! 88)

Some more observations on the relative merits of Georgies v Scoucers

Georgies:
  • wear less clothes on a night out than any other race
  • have an un-dying belief that they have a potentially successful football team
  • are Scotsman who were afraid to jump over the wall
Scoucers:
  • all have large bushy moustaches
  • were consistently successful at football when 7 of their team of 11 were Scottish
  • now mostly live in St Helens

If your stereo-typing, at least use the 's' rather than 'c' in Scouser!

Oh My God...I'm Julian's Love Child!

Alan,

I thought Scoucer would go better with Georgie

...and, now you come to mention it, when you and Jdaw were together I thought I could see a resemblance

Correct apostrophes. Correct number of dots in the ellipsis. Oh no, you’re giving the game away. People might guess. (Though omitting the space after the ellipsis (which should have been a single character (“…†)) was a good diversion tactic.)
