Our good friend Christian has just informed me, that their new product is available from now on at:
http://www.coatesandseely.com/
Winemaking of the years 2009 and 2010 was under supervision of Corinne Seely, so definitely something to look out for!

I would strongly advise JDAW not to look at that website for fear that his head might explode with rage.

A shame they only deliver in the UK, I'd like to try this one day. we all know what Seely has done with other properties and I don't think he'd release something sub-par.

Oh dear. What could have been a very interesting website I find almost impossible to read and use.

On every browser I’ve tried (Opera, Firefox, Chromium) the footer bar does not move, making it completely impossible to read the site since it overlaps the text:

Anyway, I suppose English wine really must be coming of age if someone can release a new product to the market at £27.50 a bottle!

And here I thought that issue was only on my old beater work laptop. Hope they get it sorted out soon.

Seeing that it’s not just me, I’ve sent them an email to point out that none of us can actually read about their wine.
Not sure about jdaw1; perhaps he’s gone native and is posting on LeForumPastis.fr instead?

Happily, jdaw1 had noted others’ comments, and hopes that they might suffice. If a bulldog should be needed, wake me.

I’ve just received a nice email promising to look into it and it appears it is already sorted out. Repeating my previous comments in another thread; why couldn’t I find web-designers like that when I was commissioning websites?

Now having had a chance to look around, I’m pleased to see that their rosé is a blanc de noir (if that is the correct term for a rosé...) which I’ve often thought is an underrated style of champagne.
The only thing I wonder about English Sparkling Wines is whether they are too concerned with making champagne and not setting out to make something a little more distinctive. But then I don’t really drink enough of it to tell. And, of course, I am sure the champagne makers would be more than happy to extend the appellation to include England if they thought enough money was in it
They seem to be doing a bit of a press campaign (e.g. see
here), too, in favour of using the generic name Britagne for these types of wine. I’m surprised someone who makes ‟Vinho do Porto” thinks ‟English Sparkling Wine” is too generic, though!

Perhaps we could go a little more jingoistic and call English Sparkling Wine "Jerusalem" with a sub-region of "Dark Mills" and a specific style of "Burning Gold".

I think ‟Arrows of Desire” might be quite a good name, not so sure about ‟These Feet” and ‟Holy Lamb”, though.
