It's time for Fonseca 1963
I read this TN this evening and instantly felt a need to repeat the experience. Fabulous port.

I'm sure that we will find an opportunity to repeat the experience two weeks either side of my birthday.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

I thought that it was always time for Fonseca 1963, the problem being supply rather than demand.

My U.S.-British dictionary is failing to cope. Please elucidate.Glenn E. wrote:Word.

It is an urban slang expression of agreement and/or confirmation. I'm not entirely sure how it crept into my vocabulary since I grew up in a small college/farming town, but it pops up every once in a while.jdaw1 wrote:My U.S.-British dictionary is failing to cope. The "southern" equivalent would be "ain't that the truth!"

I still say that this is one of the greatest Fonseca's and although I love 1966 too, I find the 1970 is closer stylistically and may someday even surpass the 1963. I remember having this was Bruce Guimaraens here in Seattle just before a 2nd bottle of VP and the Cuban cigars came out, this after dinner at the Georgian Room at Seattle's finest hotel. Decadent evening and this in 1998 when Bruce came to visit. What a wild night and after the first bottle, Bruce really loosened up and starting telling some amazing tales of his going into the remotest parts of the Douro and speaking with vineyard managers to try to get them to cut down on their yields to increase quality. I learned a lot that night and had a slew of fun.

Unlikely to be able to be done in Dublin - but could you swing a visit by London as part of your journey? Perhaps travel with BA from USA to Dublin via London?g-man wrote:can this be done in dublin at the end of april/beginning of may?

If I ever refuse an untainted Fonseca 1963, 66 or 70 you will know that it is an imposter posing as me - shoot to kill. Apart from a bad bottle of 66 these have been the most consistently high quality Ports I've ever had and I don't think I've ever said anything unpleasant about them. Please involve me in any bottles being opened if I am in the same hemisphere.
Port is basically a red drink

We may all have to deal with ash-tainted Ports in the future, we'll get used.g-man wrote:what if the volcanic ashes tainted them?KillerB wrote:If I ever refuse an untainted Fonseca 1963, 66 or 70 you will know that it is an imposter posing as me - shoot to kill.
