Gents,

final arrangements have been made and I could "collect" some 40 VPs for the tasting plus a lot of LBVs as well.

But most of all many very important persons from the Port Trade will attend the tasting personally, e.g.

- Angelo and Filipe Barros (Dona Matilde, Feuerheerd)
- Sophia Bergqvist (La Rosa)
- Jorge Borges (Passadouro, Pintas)
- Luis Carneiro (Taylor Fladgate)
- Vasco Magalhaes (Sogrape)
- Dirk Niepoort (Niepoort and Pisca)
- Xito Ozalabal (Vale Meao)
- Pedro Pocas Pintao (Pocas Jr.)
- Oscar Quevedo (Quevedo)
- Miguel Roquette (Crasto)
- Christian Seely (Noval and Romaneira)
- Ana Silva (Duorum)
- Dominic Symington and Joao Perreira (Symington Family Estates)

Data: February 12th.
Bayer Kasino, Leverkusen, very close to Cologne.
1200 - 1600 hrs press and trade (entrance free)
1600 - 2000 open to the public (20 EUR fee)

more info at: http://www.worldofport.com/events.htm

Please pm me if you intend to visit this event as I would have an idea of the number of people.

The following producers will be there with their VP of 2007 (most of them with LBVs as well, of course not Vesuvio nor Vale Meao)/ newest changes
Andresen
Burmester
Calem
Churchill
Chruchill Gricha
Crasto

As it is a walk-about event I shan’t make a placemat.

Thanks jdaw, it will be a walk event, so no placemats needed.

The only thing troubling me is that I might be more enthusiastic about 2007 than what is good for me and my cellar. Particularly the Noval based on what I've heard and read. But I don't stand much of a chance to drink any of it in its optimum drinking window anyway - and my 2 kids don't like port (yet). So there's hope. ... decisions, decisions!
Cheers, victor

73 cases of Port arrived on Wednesday. Cataloged them down and now getting prepared for the big showdown. Everyone not being there should feel pity.

I should have suggested that with my original post they can be sent to either Derek or me, preferred.

Hi Axel,

Looking at the above responses it seems I missed a great event due to my flu :(

I surely hope that 2008 will be declared as well and that I can join next time!

regards,
Dries

Hi Axel,

this was indeed a great event! Let us hope more of these will follow. The weather (snow!) was also being perfect to try some Port. :)

Nice pics! On TPF03.jpg: Who's the man between Axel and Dirk? Mr. Carneiro from Fonseca?
