Dow made a Bomfim SQ wine in 1962. They seem to have been a little careless in the early years when it came to distinguishing between the main blends and the SQ, with corks and capsules sometimes marked simply as 'Dow' without the qualifying word 'Bomfim'. I've not before seen a label that made the same omission though - I'm wondering if the labels here are genuine..

What are the 60's Dow vintages? 60, 63, 66?

Have had all 3 within last 2 months, and I am much bigger fan of the '63 Dow than I was a year or two ago. All 3 vintages of 60's Dows are drinking great!

With over a decade of additional Port knowledge, a book to refer to and an ex-cellars sale of various Dow wines we can now confirm that there was a Dow 1962 produced and shipped in small quantities. Whether it is the same blend as the wine labelled Dow Bomfim 1962 we will likely never know.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

A very small stash of ex cellars Dow '62 was auctioned by Christies five years ago, I secured two bottles.

The labels say Dow - no mention of Bomfim
