No (to both - though I like Simon's broad thinking!). The answer is not unrelated to port.
Broad or board!? 😂

Very close... it is indeed a corkscrew, but not another Durand (but good reasoning for the guess), so which corkscrew have I bought?

A proper old-fashioned T-shaped long worm corkscrew.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

I got it. "The answer is not unrelated to port", small P, so it's not Port wine but a port. So you bought yet another boat.

Ah, so you're saying there's something double or repeated about it?

No, though I like the guess.

I can't explain the clue without telling you the answer.
Doggett wrote: 18:31 Wed 01 Jun 2022 A twin pronged/thread/worm corkscrew
No.

Ok, an additional clue: Let's see - when I remove a cork using this, I wouldn't be surprised to find it breaks up into eight pieces.

No.

Summary of previous clues so far:
- What have I recently bought, that I don't really need? (that I don't really need)
- Don't forget the clue. Don't forget the clue.
- Let's see - when I remove a cork using this, I wouldn't be surprised to find it breaks up into eight pieces.

Additional new clue:
- Perhaps surprisingly, it's not from Norway.

Would that be an Arr-So?

It's the slightly less brash version, if that helps. But still stunning.

It certainly could well be; not the usual name though.

It would be more likely to be an Arr-so, Arr-so, perhaps...

However, you're all getting very close...
