I must admit I'm short on grahams.
Jay, what do you think of a 1963-1994 tasting?
1963
1966
1970 -Julian
1975
1977
1980 -SushiNorth
1983 -SushiNorth
1985 -Julian
1991
1994 -Julian
Did I get the years right?

We had graham's 83 and 80 at the recent tasting, btw. I bought extra bottles of both at that time.

I won't be near my port list for about ten days (I am in Yorkshire enjoying the howling of the wind). Off the top of my head, I have the 1963, 1977 and (I believe) the 1991. I am pretty sure that I do not have the 1966 or 1975.

Can someone reading this thread post what the expected prices of the grahams 63, and 75 would be?

According to
www.wine-searcher.com/prof/ the cheapest G63 in the US is at
www.wineconsigners.com for a mere $260, who also have
Graham 1960 for $150.

Okay , called up wineconsigners about the 1960 .... purchased sotheby's auction 11/17/06 .. capsule branded with grahams 1960.
no signs of seepage. Fill is very top shoulder.

G-man won’t be adopting at the Graham vertical.

I can secure one or two 75 grahams for around 140 a piece, would like to attend and bring one of these with me if allowed/welcomed.

In general ’75s are terrible shouldn’t have been declared so $140 seems a lot.

I have heard from three folks by pm, so I assume that we can try to plan a Graham's vertical for January. I can supply the 1960, 1963, 1977 and 1991. That leaves us only the 1966 and the 1975. I agree with Julian's earlier comment that the 1975 should not cost anywhere near $140.00. A quick search of Wine-searcher shows the 1975 for about $80.00 a bottle plus shipping.
I am happy to volunteer my home again or perhaps, if Jeff can arrange it, we could meet at Nicks & Stef's steakhouse again. As I said in my pm, my preference is Friday or Saturday and I am pretty free in January.

Jay: thank you for nudging this forward, and, again, for offering your home.
The last Saturday of January doesn’t work for me, but Saturday 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th are all good.
Vintages:
- 1960 ”“ Jay;
- 1963 ”“ Jay;
- 1966;
- 1970 - Julian;
- 1975;
- 1977 ”“ Jay;
- 1980 ”“ SushiNorth;
- 1983 ”“ SushiNorth;
- 1985 ”“ Julian;
- 1991 ”“ Jay;
- 1994 ”“ Julian.
People:
- Jay;
- Julian;
- Josh;
- Jeff.
That’s nine bottles from the eleven vintages, and, so far, four of us. Methinks more people needed. I will invite some.

I am rather constricted in January and can't do the 24th. I might be able to do the 17th but it is unlikely. How many people would be interested in attending this event? We'll need more than the 4 of us.

Jeff: in one sense a shame; in another not.
People:
- Jay;

- Josh;
- John.
(The common theme amongst the names has been maintained Justin, Jeremy, Jack, Jacob, James, Jason, Jasper, Jimmy, Joseph, Jackie, Jade, Jane, Jemma, Jennifer, Jessica, Jo, Jodie and Justine are all welcome to sign up and drink Graham’s with us.)

I think we may need a chart of who can make which evenings then pick the best option... John and I seem to be opposite, Jeff could you make the 3rd? (could we even fill in the blanks by then?)
Is anyone else interested in this tasting? I think we need a fresh roundup/post of announced NY tastings, per jfacciol's email.

And I cannot make January 3. It would be a shame to lose Jeff and SushiNorth seems constrained in January. Why not just roll this forward until the second weekend in February, i.e., 14 or 15 Feb?
It sounds as if we have two other tastings from Julian's stash in which a number of folks have expressed interest and now we just need to find good common times: Classic Years and 1977 Vertical series 2.

I'm still hoping that we can plan something for Friday, February 27th. Will two tastings two weeks apart be too many too close together?
The Graham vertical and '77 "vertical" series 2 both sound good to me.
(Could someone please explain that joke?)

Friday 27th February is deep in the baby zone, so not me. (And as the theme is one of the three versions of drinking-Julian’s-port, that means that the G vertical can’t happen then. Sorry.)
We did a 1977 horizontal in New York last year (
link), hence this is #2. I think that Jay’s description of it as 90° rotated was merely an error.

In Rhode Island I have a random Graham oddity: cask sample of Malvedos, I think it's 1988 but I'm not sure. I will bring it when I come back from the holiday. Perhaps I could contribute that and/or adopt a bottle.

I would like someday to have a Malvedos tasting, so my suggestion is that the 1988 Malvedos be saved for that occasion.

I hope so. We are just struggling to agree the date.
The most likely currently seems to be Fri 13th or Sat 14th February 2009. It might be that our other halves have other plans for the 14th, so let’s say that we’re aiming for the unlucky for some 13th.

For us married chaps so much better than the 14th of February, on which day in 2008 we had
a tasting.

Where are we with this tasting? I count Julian, Jay, Josh, Eric (?) and Jeff (?). Who else? We have many more bottles than tasters at the relatively relaxed New York limit of one bottle per person.

Disagreements.
• I do not acknowledge the limit imposed by Jay. Seven for four at the most recent tasting (though Eric D did have to come back the following day to help tidy).
• So Derek wants us to damage our relationships with our loved ones, so that after many years and marriages have passed enough of a precedent is set for him to try it once. Very noble of you Derek.
But we are a bit light of people. Now that plans are firmed I will invite the
NY tasters again.

I am interested. Are we also including Malvedos? Perhaps a Malvedos only vertical would be more interesting...

I have tried it once. I just haven't tried it with my now better-half.

Hi there. Can you count me in please for Fri Feb 13. In the mean time, please know that I am on an on-call list for work for that same time frame. If I were to need to come in to work, I would know about it a week ahead of time. (IOW, count me in but if I have to work, I will give notice if I can't come). I read there are bottles available. Does that mean there are some up for adoption?

Excellent good to have you with us. We currently have too few people (I’m reluctant to say too many bottles), so adopting will be the way forward.

Actually, I am wondering if we need both of the grahams I have (both because I have precious few left and given the small # of people). What if we dropped the 83 (of which I have only 1, and there are dozens of notes on) and went with the 80 (which I have 3 of, but which there is only a single note on)?

I am waiting to see how this develops before I pop the idea on my girlfriend that I am going to NYC for the weekend with her... On Valentine's Day. Not that we "celebrate" it and she also wants to go to NYC. She can hold her own on the port drinking too. Maybe she'll join too?

Let me talk it over with the better half and see what we can do.
'75 is a rare vintage. Should be able to get '66 or maybe something older? I have '85 '80 '83...
