T77 - cork problem?

In the course of re-organising my cellar, I have just had cause to move most of my 77's across to a new rack.

All are looking fine, except the Taylor's..

I have bottles from four different cases of T77, all seperately sourced. Levels range from BN to high fill.

Almost all have some staining of the guarantee strip, and some crusting at the base of the capsule is apparent on bottles of different origin. A few bottles are showing very slight seepage.

None of my other '77's have any such problems at all.

Is this just coincidence, or were Taylor sold a pup when they bought the corks for this bottling?

The 2 I had and drunk were both crusty and showed slight signs of seepage.
Both corks were stained all the way through.
Fill was base neck for my two.

Both were picked up at retail from Hart Davis and were consignments from private cellars.

that or we've had the great misfortune to be buying from the same original source cellar who might have stocked up cases upon cases of this when released. =)

I bought a case a couple of years ago from a private source, and some of my bottles also had a leakage problem. I've rewaxed some and drank one or two. Those bottles were ok, but not as good as other bottles from different sources (notably BBR). That said, they certainly weren't as duff as the last T77 I tasted during the '77 offline last summer.

I think I'll pitch a similar post in another place - see if we can get some wider feedback..
