Fantastic pics! It's interesting to watch the evolution from the oldest Ports to the more recent ones. 1980 seems to be the point where they all start looking like a young VP.

Splendid evening, of two halves, They were pale and mature; and then they were baga-dark and baga-hollowness. Very very splendid were the 1926 and 1970.

Several of those absent, MJRM CPR JDF, sent their bottles despite owners’ absence: thank you kindly.

My TNs posted: others, please do likewise (mutatis mutandis).

I agree with Julian that this was a very excellent evening, not least due to the generosity of all those involved, even where they could not make it on the night.

That was a fascinating tasting, such a change in style around 1980 with the older wines having been made in a more delicate and elegant style and the younger wines more extracted and with more fruit and less subtlety. While I agree 1970 and 1926 were splendid wines, I also really liked 1997. I took a sample home and had it last night - and it is delicious, full of dark cherry fruit.
