A deep rich red, 90% opaque
Nose is definitely ‘Colheita’ - the grapes of the vintage are just about there but there’s a secondary characteristic from the wood which tells you immediately what it is trying to be.
Palate is full, rich, round, smooth and in no way heavily red or black fruited (what is there? Maybe a hint of blackcurrant but mainly kumquat, mandarin, fig, quince paste, none of which are our usual descriptors for relatively young port) and really very well managed.
Completely congruent on finish.
A success.
