SJ70: red-brown, 20% opaque; nose described as “fully mature”; but palate had cherries, fresh and bright, very soft, “actually good Port”.

Brownish red. Acrid nose. Soft palate. Nothing.

1970 Santos Junior. Oporto bottled. A little cloudy, but otherwise an attractive mature bronzed red colour. Pleasant freshness on the nose, although very restrained. Mature, still alive, but with the flavours of the wine taking quite a long time to make themselves obvious on the palate. While the flavours take time to appear on the palate, they persist on the aftertaste and linger for long enough to give a rather pleasant and lingering finish. 86/100.
