An emergency was declared for Monday 14th April 2025, at the Boot & Flogger.

A 1977 was proffered, so another was, so another was, and the planning attracted towards an evening of 1977s. This is good.

Promising nose. Rather attractive port, but possibly a little attentuated in taste. Others liked this more.

Ramos Pinto 1977. Slightly cloudy, full of fine sediment. Attractive mature fruit on the nose, a touch of red pear. A little red pear on the palate, along with dried plum — wonderfully mature.

Dried cherry, damson and brown sugar. Wonderful complexity on the palate, multiple layers of subtle flavours but with so much nutmeg and mace. Really lovely, but not quite in the same class as the Niepoort or Taylor. 90/100.
