This post to propose the idea of a 1982 horizontal, a vintage from which, perhaps oddly, I have derived a great deal of pleasure! I’m intrigued.

I am in possession of Churchill 1982, to kick things off, as perhaps one of the mostly historically significant 82s, being Churchills first vintage port from their pre-Quinta da Gricha period.

Julian, Tom and Harry identified that 1982s were not unforthcoming in their collections. I think it could be great fun!

As noted on the night of Martin’s glorious 60/63/66 horizontal, September 10th seems to be an agreable date.

I think I have Cr82. A quick Look at the TN database though, might suggest we’ll struggle to muster sufficient ‘82s for a broad tasting. Were that to be the case, perhaps another theme could be married to this one to give critical mass. Let’s see what appears though!

Think I've also got the Churchill but nothing else.
Did have Cavadinha and Terra Feita, but think these got used for the verticals and I'm pretty sure were solitary bottles.

As Mike suggests, might need some expansion.

Hi Ben. In August I could make the week of 27 August but not the week before. In September I could make 17th or 24th. I have a bottle of Ramos Pinto 1982.

September certainly works better for me as I’m away the last fortnight in August. Don’t have much from 82 although I do have a Calem Foz which is a nice drop of juice.

Have now got some OBV82, which is another one of the Blenheim Palace bottles so should be in good condition, so will bring that.

Dear all - we’re still awaiting Harry and Tom to confirm their 1982 availability, but in order to increase our numbers and particularly bottles, it may be necessary to expand the theme a little.

A comparison between the 82s and the 83s could be interesting - does anyone have any 83s that would be suitable comparisons or interesting counterparts to the current offering of 82s?

OK - having waited eleven years to get round to it, have opened the Cruzeiro - all 12 bottles in good shape with good levels

Although the exterior labelling included the word Fonseca, the word does not appear on either the case branding or the labels, so this one will be reclassified in my cellar as Guimaraens, Quinta do Cruzeiro 1982
