2000 Quevedo Colheita (bottled 2021)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled in 2021 in 9cl for the 2021 advent calendar. A delightful brick red colour, 60% opaque. Tasted alongside the 2000 garrafeira the colours were remarkably different, with the garrafeira being an opaque dark blood-red colour. An attractive, if restrained, nose of nuts and red apple. Coffee, nuts and a generous acidity gives a pleasantly intense and concentrated palate with a little complexity. The aftertaste and finish are impressive, full of coffee and burnt sugar. A wine which will probably improve with more time to mature in barrel. 88/100. Tasted 16-Mar-23. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
