2015 Quinta da Corte LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Quinta da Corte 2015 LBV, bottled 2019 in a most appallingly shaped squat and sloped bottle if you want to bottle mature the wine. A note of maturity starting to appear in the red colour of the wine, which is slightly turbid having left a significant deposit over the sides of the bottle (which has clearly been stored upright). The nose is very subdued, showing a little caramelised red fruit. A lovely texture on the palate, gentle fresh fruit and soft tannins. An edge of maturity to the fruit, starting to show a touch of brown sugar, but kept alive and fresh by the acidity. A burst of raspberries and rhubarb, a slide of brown sugar and aniseed balls and a long tobacco finish. An interesting wine, pleasant in a style I’ve not encountered before.
86/100. Tasted at the BFT on 20-Apr-23.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
