1996 Warre Cavadinha

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

WC96, decanted 1 day. Basically, all the WC from 1987 to 2006 are the same dark red. The 1996 has a lovely nose dominated by lovely black fruit. Balanced entry with an elegantly structured fruit. The fruit is lighter than in the 1995 with a little heat showing. Medium-bodied, pleasant and delivering a warm aniseed and black fruit finish of good length. An odd Port, hinting at perhaps being better one day than it is today. 87/100.

Tasted at the Warre Cavadinha Vertical on 28th March 2023.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
