1966 Warre

Decanted at 13.00, drunk at 20.00. Mature bronze colour, 40% opaque. Delicious on the nose, bringing redcurrants and dried cranberry spiced up by a little star anise. Smooth on the palate with a slightly thickened texture, floral like rose hip syrup. The floral and fruit flavours grow on the palate with just enough spice to be really interesting, giving a wonderful layering of flavours. Rich and slightly warm on the aftertaste, showing delicious dried fruit and a hint of milk chocolate. A wonderful wine. 93/100. Tasted at the Port Forum Awards 07-Feb-23. Decanted 7 hours.

W66, decanted 13:00. Red-red-pink, 25% opaque. Fading; rough mint, cherries behind, lovely, but weaker than it should be. Or weaker than W66 once was.

40% opacity, mature red-amber, very clear. Lovely nose, cranberries, violets, tobacco. Soft, smooth, still some grip, caramels, dried cranberries.
