1970 Rebello Valente

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Decanted at 13.00, drunk at 19.30. Mature red in tone but very light, perhaps 20% opaque. Restrained nose showing only a little dirty fruit. Starting to dry out on the palate, although the mid-palate shows some slightly dirty sweet and candied red fruit. Cranberry aftertaste, with some dry edges, changing in to a blackcurrant lozenge on the good length finish. 86/100. Tasted at the TPF Awards on 07-Feb-23. Decanted 6½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

40% opacity, mature red, very clear. Caramels and red fruit. Soft and smooth, rounded, dusty red fruit, faint peppery hints.
