NV Cockburn Special Reserve
The most poured Port in the UK. Average age of about 4 years, filtered before bottling. Gentle Ruby colour. Smooth fruit nose, sweet fruit palate with a gentle grip. Warm cinnamon drops finish. A comforting and reliable glass. 86/100. Tasted 21-Feb-23. Open 4 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Do you weight your scores by category? (e.g. judging a VP more exactingly than a Ruby?). I only ask because I think you’ve given >86 to quite a few VPs recently!

Nope. I give scores on an absolute basis.
So an 86 for Cockburn Special Reserve means I think it to be as good a glass of wine as a bottle of Malvedos 92 which I also give 86 points. Both are scores based on my impression of the wine at the time of tasting, rather than its potential at its peak.

Whilst it is a long time since I've drunk it, I though the Malvedos 1992 was a very good Port so that's high praise indeed!
