1922 Schofield

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A capsule embossed "Schofield's 1922 Vintage Port" on a yellow painted foil capsule; cork branded "Vintage 1922".

Dark brick-red colour, darker then the Dow 1927 tasted prior to this wine. Sweet redcurrant nose, gently spiced. Vibrant, sweet fruit on the palate with fresh, lively acidity keeping the palate bright and fresh giving balance to the lovely concentrated fruit. A slight birch sap tone on the fruit on the finish, a finish which is a little short but still delicious. 89/100. Consumed 15-Dec-22. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
