1922 Tuke Holdsworth
Posted: 12:39 Fri 30 Dec 2022
From Tom Archer. Identified from the capsule as having been bottled by William Smith of Bishop's Stortford and sealed with a cork branded "Tuke Holdsworth 1922".
Very dark in colour with a mature tone to the wine, 90% opaque. Fragrant and expressive on the nose, bringing dark cherry and library dust. A big wine on the palate, wonderful and powerful fruit - dark cherry and dark Christmas cake. The fruit is so impressive and young. A wonderful, rich Port tasting much more like a 1980 than a 1920. My wine of the night and the top or second wine of the night of everyone at the tasting. 97/100. Consumed 15-Dec-22. Decanted 3 hours.
